Keep Your Pet’s Tags & Vaccinations Up To Date
One of the first precautions to being a good dog neighbor is ensuring tags and vaccinations are always kept up to date. Dogs get loose and having correct tags help ensure a safe return. And no one wants an outbreak of distemper or parvo, both very preventable diseases through vaccinations.
Know the Rules

Introduction
Introducing your pet to the neighbors can be key in building a good relationship. This can help head-off potential issues. Do they have a dog reactive pet? Do they have a dog that likes to chase or run off? Are they even dog people? (Some people aren’t. Weird I know.) Learning about your neighbors and letting them meet you before problems arise is ideal.
Mend Fences
Literally. Both neighbors are responsible for a safe and secure fence between yards. Working together on maintenance and upkeep will ensure everyone’s tail stays wagging.
Keep Noise in Check
Barking dogs, day or night, can wear on your nerves. Keeping your dog’s vocalization to a minimum will make for good neighbors. Much of this is learned behavior that a good trainer can help with.
Clean the Poop
Disposing of dog waste is the same as disposing of trash. Your neighbors don’t want to see it or smell it. Great news is many areas have services you can hire just for this.
Take a Walk
Taking walks with your pup can be a great way for you and them to meet the neighbors. You’ll often time meet other dog owners. Plus, many dogs act differently when in public.
Carry Poop Bags
When on your walks, please bring poop bags. Cleaning up your own dog’s feces is not fun. Cleaning up your neighbor’s is simply unacceptable. Like your mom said, “Pick up after yourself.”
